Thoughts of Atheist vs. Judeo/Christian Beliefs
The following text uses “you” as a general reference to an atheist to present atheistic ideas for the purpose of illustration only. there is no critical intent, but I do have serious concerns concerning the fate of atheists.
What If: If you are right then when we die there is nothing more for us, and you and I will be in the same condition, nonexistent. I will have found satisfaction from a mind trip, and will have missed out on some fleshly pleasures, which don’t satisfy, and in the long run won’t matter. there won’t even be any satisfaction for you that you were right. but: If I am right we will both exist eternally, in a glorious place called heaven for me, and a dreadful place called hell for you.
If you are right the universe will eventually burn out, or possibly collapse upon itself, but before this happens man will continue to evolve (barring extinction) until the greatest minds and talents of our time become inferior predecessors (so much for respect). in short nothing including us really matters. but: if I am right there will be an eternal heaven and an eternal lake of fire, and man is a final creation. we are all valuable and precious to god and everything matters very much.
If you are right there is no absolute standard of right and wrong, but only a consensus of man, which is changeable and situation dependent. For example genocide could be a bad thing today, but a good thing tomorrow, depending on prevailing attitude. I am adhering to a standard that may be fleetingly beneficial, but really doesn’t matter.
If I am right there is an absolute standard of right and wrong, which is determined by an unchanging and holy god, who can not tolerate sin. I would like to mention here that I do not mean to imply that I am saved by right living, please refer to conclusion:
It looks to me as though if I am wrong it doesn’t really matter, but if you are wrong it matters eternally, and you lose big.
The beliefs expressed are my own, and are intended to open the hearts of unbelievers to receive revelation of the truth of god and salvation. I do not intend to represent myself as an absolute authority or expert. I believe that the holy bible is the infallible word of god and that the information provided here is borne out by this word, but don’t take my word for it, always test everything said against the holy word of god.
